On October 1 2017, during the referendum, firemen were active in many polling stations, attempting to prevent the Spanish police from injuring voters, and later issuing a statement deploring their violence. They were publicly acclaimed in later days. The Spanish authorities took careful note and now, 18 months later, three firemen are being investigated by a Girona court at the behest of the Spanish police.

The Catalan Broadcasting Corporation published an interactive map explaining place by place what happened duing the referendum on self-determination on October 1 2017. This source and the one at the foot of the post are being widely used by the social media to almost instantly reveal the incorrect descriptions - by Spanish riot police officers testifying before the Supreme Court - of what really happened at each polling station.
