Isaac Rosa: "I feel deeply ashamed" about the trial

A thread of tweets by Isaac Rosa on the trial of Catalan leaders in the Spanish Supreme Court, translated into English by MS. I hope he doesn't mind.

I'm not following the trial of the "independentistas" because I feel deeply ashamed. Right now Jordi Cuixart is translating an email in Catalan, the prosecutor is reading between the lines to see if violence appears somewhere, and is asking about sausages when this man has been in jail for over a year.

Seriously, turn on and follow for a while the spectacle of the prosecutor in the trial, who seems never to know what he is talking about, with Jordi Cuixart correcting him time and again. You swallow well over a year in pre-trial detention only to have to face this... I'd laugh were it not scandalous.

At last this is getting serious: the prosecutor is asking about tweets! Aha! There we are, I knew this man could not have spent a year and a half in jail for nothing... The prosecutor finally found the smoking barrel (irony On, we all know each other well enough).

A tweet by Cuixart says "Let's isolate violent attitudes", the prosecutor shouts eureka and asks "So did you already foresee violent attitudes?". It's all madly Orwellian, a tweet against violence becomes an early recognition of violence and therefore a call to violence.

From the moment Cuixart has defended peaceful disobedience (mentioning the fight against evictions) and has acknowledged that he called people to protest, what is the point of the prosecutor going through all his tweets? They're filling hours of trial, so that the judicial indigence goes unnoticed.

Now the prosecutor is asking about the sandwiches that the officials ordered, as evidence of the violent siege they suffered. I am admiring the patience and even good humour that Cuixart is showing (after well over a year in prison, I insist). Anyone else would have thrown a shoe at the prosecutor.

I look and see that the show is still going on in the Supreme Court, now with Forcadell: the prosecutor asks for a tweet with words missing from it, Forcadell corrects it and the president asks the audience to stop smiling and whispering. Then the prosecutor says they are looking for another tweet "in the cloud".

COME OFF IT! The prosecutor asks Forcadell about a tweet, she denies writing it and asks it to be shown. Answer from the prosecutor: "I cannot show it because it is not located in the cloud". Everything's the same, mother of God ...

My last two tweets refer to a random moment, I tuned into the trial for a moment and I saw it right at that moment. If I had done so earlier or later, it would have been the same, this is non-stop.

No sigo apenas el juicio a independentistas porque paso mucha vergüenza. Ahora mismo Jordi Cuixart traduciendo un correo en catalán, el fiscal leyendo entre líneas a ver si sale violencia por algún lado y preguntando por longanizas cuando este hombre lleva año y pico en prisión.

De verdad, conectaos y seguid un rato el espectáculo del fiscal en el juicio, que parece todo el tiempo no saber de qué habla, y Jordi Cuixart corrigiéndolo una y otra vez. Que te comas un año y pico de preventiva para luego encontrarte esto... Daría risa si no fuese un escándalo.

Por fin esto se pone serio: ¡el fiscal está preguntando por tuits! Ahí, ahí, ya sabía yo que este hombre no podía llevar año y pico en la cárcel por nada... Por fin el fiscal encontró la pistola humeante
(Ironía On, que ya nos conocemos).

Un tuit de Cuixart dice "aislemos actitudes violentas", el fiscal grita eureka y pregunta "¿preveían ya actitudes violentas?" Es todo locamente orwelliano, un tuit contra la violencia se convierte en reconocimiento anticipado de la violencia y por tanto en llamamiento a violencia.

Desde el momento en que Cuixart ha defendido la desobediencia pacífica (mencionando la lucha contra desahucios) y ha reconocido que llamó a la gente a protestar, ¿qué sentido tiene que el fiscal repase todos los tuits? Llenar horas de juicio, que no se note la indigencia judicial.

Ahora el fiscal pregunta por los bocadillos que los funcionarios pidieron, como prueba del violento asedio que sufrían. Me está admirando la paciencia y hasta buen humor que muestra Cuixart (tras año y pico de prisión, insisto). Otro le habría tirado ya un zapato al fiscal.

Me asomo y veo que el show sigue en el Supremo, ahora con Forcadell: la fiscal pregunta por un tuit al que faltan palabras, Forcadell se lo corrige y el presidente pide al público que deje ya las sonrisas y murmullos. Luego dice la fiscal que están buscando otro tuit "en la nube".

¡POR FAVOR! La fiscal pregunta a Forcadell por un tuit, ella niega haberlo escrito y pide que se lo enseñen. Respuesta de la fiscal: "pues no se lo puedo enseñar porque no está localizado en la nube". Así todo, virgencita...

Mis dos últimos tuits se refieren a un momento random, me he asomado un instante al juicio y lo he visto justo en ese momento. Si me hubiese asomado antes o después, lo mismo, es un no parar.
