I am back at home after six days at the Hospital de Barcelona, with COVID-19. Every day I thanked the personnel for their work. One day a nurse replied: “When you go home help us stop people acting foolishly and get them to stay at home; tell them what we are going through here”. So I'll explain it:
In the hospitals, where I have my parents and my grandmother, the emergency situation is experienced very harshly. Health workers act fearfully. Many of their colleagues have tested positive and are at home, in isolation. Some even have lost their lives.
The lack of resources is starting to be notorious and they suffer because they don't have enough medical equipment. They can not devote enough time to each patient and they take many serious cases straight to a room, with diapers, so as not to have to stop attending other emergency situations.
The emergency services are overwhelmed with far more requests to enter than to leave. In many hospitals the number of people dying of Covid-19 is higher than the number of recoveries. And in particular, all the health workers agree: THE CONFINEMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AGGRESSIVE.
I therefore beg you all that to respect the norms of confinement 100%, and refrain from imprudent behaviour. Take for granted you might have it and that any transgression could lead to a contagion. If a single person in the family core gets it is almost impossible for all the other not to get it as well.
And to conclude, I want to give my thanks once again to the Rt. Hon. President [of Catalonia] Quim Torra i Pla for his defence of a restrictive, responsible policy in accordance with WHO guidelines and therefore far from the great negligence of the Pedro Sánchez administration.
I have been a witness that the message that the Rt. Hon. President is sharing all over the place is the message that the health workers request, as well as the small employers and workers. After endlessly insulting him for weeks, now the Spanish government is beginning to prove him right... without mentioning his name! FOR TWO WEEKS HE HAS BEEN CALLING FOR THE [COMPLETE] LOCKDOWN OF CATALONIA — AND OF MADRID (the world's biggest outbreak of the illness, that has been disseminating its huge level of contagions). Then well; the State's boldest policy has been to deploy the army and launching a Nationalist advertising campaign costing €4·5M, the only message of which has been that of the unity of Spain. The mismanagement of the crisis on the part of Madrid cannot be described in words; it is a letter-by-letter case of negligence, not to call it directly a crime against public health.
I believe that it has not been in their interest to halt the high level of contagions (the second highest in the world, on some days) and have preferred an high curve of infections so as to shorten the period of economic inactivity. This is at the cost of more human lives. To hold them accountable is a moral duty.
This is ABSOLUTELY intolerable in any minimally developed democracy.

Dins dels hospitals, on hi tinc pares i àvia, la situació d’emergència es viu amb molta cruesa. Els professionals mèdics exerceixen amb por. Molts dels seus companys han donat positiu i són a casa, aïllats. Alguns fins i tot hi han deixat la vida.
La falta de recursos comença a ser notòria i pateixen per no tenir prou material mèdic. No poden dedicar prou temps per pacient i a molts greus els deixen a l’habitació amb bolquers directament per no haver de deixar d’atendre altres situacions d’emergència.
Les urgències estan desbordades amb molta més demanda d’ingrés que d’alta. A molts hospitals el nombre de defuncions per COVID-19 és superior al nombre de recuperacions. I sobretot, tots els professionals coincideixen: EL CONFINAMENT HAURIA D’HAVER SIGUT MÉS AGRESSIU.
Per això, us demano a tots que respecteu 100% les normatives de confinament i eviteu comportaments imprudents. Assumiu que ho podríeu tenir i que qualsevol transgressió podria portar a un contagi. Si algú del nucli familiar ho agafa és gairebé impossible que no ho agafeu tots.
I per acabar, vull donar un cop més les gràcies al MH President @QuimTorraiPla per la seva defensa d’una política restrictiva i responsable seguint les directrius de la OMS i per tant distanciada de la gran negligència del govern de Pedro Sánchez.
He sigut testimoni que el missatge que el MHP està compartint arreu és el missatge que demanen els professionals mèdics i també el dels petits empresaris i treballadors. Després d’insultar-lo sense aturador durant setmanes, ara el govern espanyol comença a donar-li la raó en tot menys en nom! PORTA 2 SETMANES DEMANANT EL CONFINAMENT DE CATALUNYA — I EL DE MADRID (el gran focus mundial de la malaltia que ha estat escampant el seu alt nivell de contagis). Doncs bé; la política més atrevida de l’Estat ha sigut desplegar l’exèrcit i fer una campanya publicitària nacionalista de 4,5M€ que l’únic missatge que té és el de la unitat d’Espanya. La mala gestió de la crisi per part de Madrid no té nom; és una negligència en totes les lletres, per no anomenar-lo directament delicte contra la salut pública.
Penso que no els ha convingut parar l’alt nivell de contagis (segon en tot el món depenent del dia) i han preferit una corba elevada d’infeccions per tal de disminuir el període d’inactivitat econòmica. El preu d’això és més vides humanes. Passar comptes és un deure moral.
Això és ABSOLUTAMENT intolerable en qualsevol democràcia mínimament desenvolupada.
