There are those that are still uncomfortable about calling the Catalan politicians and social leaders (in pre-trial for a year or more) political prisoners. This quote from a ruling by judge Llarena turning down an appeal for bail on February 2 2018 (after the pro-independence parties had repeated their parliamentary majority, despite every effort by Spain to prevent this outcome) should clarify the issue!
