"A country that adopts eight education laws in 40 years and bans its languages ​​is a country that can't bear itself."

What can be said of a country that for the most part regards the education of its young people not as a tool for individual empowerment and social progress, but as a weapon of ideological indoctrination? What can be said of a country that in 40 years of democracy has had seven prime ministers yet is about to adopt its eighth law of education? What can be said of a political class incapable of making sense and thinking of citizens on a key issue like this, to the point that they are already working on the ninth education law? Indeed, it is dramatic. But do not believe that someone has raised their voice for the citizens, for the children, for their future skills, for the quality of education. No way! They have only raised their voices because, unlike the Wert law - alias the children's Spanishizer - the Celaá bill does not impose Spanish as a language of instruction. From here, the usual old circus. Pablo Casado, outraged, launches a signature campaign and an appeal to the Constitutional Court against the new law; Alfonso Guerra, horrified, denounces that Spanish is being persecuted in Catalonia, and the Real Academia Española is very worried, although it is not clear if it is because of the almost 500 million speakers of the Spanish language or because of its alleged legal “unprotection”. Yet more dramatic! And what do they have to say to me about the fact that Spain has banned - yes, forbidden - speaking in Catalan, Basque or Galician in the Congress or the Senate, as has happened this week (as it has before) with members of these three language communities ...? Or about the fact that Spain has likewise vetoed the use of one of the languages ​​spoken in its own territory, Catalan, in the European Parliament and institutions? How dramatic, a country that cannot bear itself as it is, plurinational and plurilingual, with all the wealth that this entails, because it conceives of itself only in Spanish and exclusively in Spanish. How dramatic coexistence is, when based on tirelessly treading on the language of millions of citizens.

 

 

El drama espanyol

“Un país que fa vuit lleis d’educació en 40 anys i que prohibeix parlar les seves llengües és un país que no se suporta a si mateix"

Què es pot dir d’un país que majoritàriament concep l’educació dels seus joves no pas com una eina d’empoderament individual i de progrés social, sinó com una arma d’adoctrinament ideològic? Què es pot dir d’un país que en 40 anys de democràcia ha tingut set presidents de govern però està a punt d’aprovar la seva vuitena llei d’educació? Què es pot dir d’una classe política incapaç de posar seny i pensar en els ciutadans en una qüestió clau com aquesta, fins al punt que ja estan treballant en la novena llei d’educació? Efectivament, és un drama. Però no es creguin que algú ha aixecat la veu pels ciutadans, pels nens, per la seva competència futura, per la qualitat de l’ensenyament. Que va! Només han aixecat la veu perquè, a diferència de la llei Wert, àlies l’espanyolitzador de criatures, la llei Celaá no imposa el castellà com a llengua vehicular de l’ensenyament. A partir d’aquí, el circ de sempre. Pablo Casado, indignat, posant en marxa una recollida de firmes i un recurs al Tribunal Constitucional contra la nova llei; Alfonso Guerra, horroritzat, denunciant que a Catalunya es persegueix el castellà, i la Real Academia Española, preocupadíssima, per bé que no queda clar si és pels quasi 500 milions de parlants de la llengua espanyola o per la seva presumpta “desprotecció” legal. Un altre drama! I què me’n diuen, del fet que l’Estat espanyol hagi de prohibir –sí, prohibir– parlar en català, basc o gallec al Congrés o al Senat, com ha passat aquesta setmana (i altres vegades) amb diputats d’aquestes tres comunitats lingüístiques...? O del fet que el mateix Estat espanyol hagi de vetar l’ús d’una de les llengües que es parlen al seu territori, el català, al Parlament i les institucions europees? Quin drama un país que no es pot suportar a si mateix com el que és, plurinacional i plurilingüe, amb tota la riquesa que això comporta, perquè es concep a si mateix només castellà i exclusivament en castellà. Quin drama una convivència basada en trepitjar sense descans la llengua pròpia de milions de ciutadans.
